Welcome to Ms. Shelley and Ms. Kirsten's Classroom Blog!

We are incredibly excited for our students and parents, both new and old, to get acquainted with our blog as well as our classroom! 2015-2016 is going to be full of new learning and growing experiences and we are very excited to get this school year started!  A quick reminder before we begin on August 10th-  we are looking forward to seeing all our new parents at orientation on Thursday, August 6th at 6:30pm.   We will discuss important information about the coming school year and you will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Parents, if you have any questions or concerns, we are always available through email at Shelley@jbma.education or Kirsten@jbma.education.

A Note from Aftercare:
Dear Parents,

Hi! My name is Kari Barlowe and I will be working with Ms. Lindsey in the aftercare program this upcoming year! I wanted to begin by telling you a little about myself. I live in Montevallo, AL and I am a graduate from UAB’s education program. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, exercising, and reading. I especially enjoy outdoor activities in warmer weather. Currently I am studying about gardening.
If your child will be napping or attending aftercare please send a nap mat and an extra pair of clothes to be kept in the aftercare building. You can drop these off with your child’s teacher Monday morning. Please label the nap mat, the bag of clothes, and each individual piece of clothing with your child’s name. Please let me or Ms. Lindsey know if you have any questions. I look forward to this year and all of the outstanding memories it will bring!

Kindest Regards,
Ms. Kari

We have started our study of Australia and the Great Barrier Reef. We hope you will hear your children talking about the island continent and ocean life.
Dates to remember this month:
Tomorrow night, Thursday the 9th, we will have Dr. Vivian Friedman speaking on "How to talk so your child will listen and listen so your child will talk".  I know as parents we need all the help we can get when it comes to understanding and communicating with our children.  Please plan to attend.  Program starts at 6:45.
